Marvel never misses a trend, do they? This Halloween season, Marvel is going to gift us not in the form of candies, but a new show. MCU has finally released the official trailer for its Halloween special, ‘Werewolf by Night‘. The show is directed by Michael Giacchino. The trailer was released recently, but not much is known about the show. However, from the trailer, one can decipher that the story is about a group of monster hunters fighting to find the werewolf among them.
If you are thinking that this is a newly introduced Marvel character, you might be wrong. This howling, hairy Marvel hero has been around since the 70s. Before MCU releases another of its production (yes we are still managing time to watch the currently running shows), let us get to more about our werewolf.

Who Is Werewolf By Night?
The Werewolf by Night, made his Marvel debut in 1971’s Marvel Spotlight #2. The werewolf was actually born in Transylvania as Jacob Russoff. Rusell is a descendant of Grigori Russoff who, in 1795, was turned into a werewolf after fighting Dracula. Grigori somehow kept the curse dormant for many generations until it was reactivated by Jack’s grandfather Gregor. He used powers from a copy of the Darkhold. Remember the original dark hold whose copy was destroyed by Wanda Maximoff? Yes, you got it right. It’s the same. When under the full moon, the curse turns Gregor and his descendants into feral werewolves with supernatural abilities.
This includes enhanced strength, lightning-fast agility, and a stereotypical weakness of silver. The curse was passed down from Gregor to his son Gregory and finally to Jack. When Gregory dies during one of his transformations, Jack is moved to America where his mother is later killed by the criminal committee after learning of the family curse. In a fit of rage, Jack transforms into a bloodthirsty werewolf to avenge his mother’s death.

Release Date and Synopsis Of The Show
It was confirmed by Marvel Studios during their ongoing D23 Expo that the show will be added to Disney+ on October 7, just under four weeks from now. The show will be a one-off Halloween special, meaning there won’t be multiple episodes or installments. It is expected to be an hour long and will be entirely black and white like the trailer. “On a dark and somber night, a secret cabal of monster hunters emerge from the shadows and gather at the foreboding Bloodstone Temple following the death of their leader,” the synopsis reads. “In a strange and macabre memorial to the leader’s life, the attendees are thrust into a mysterious and deadly competition for a powerful relic—a hunt that will ultimately bring them face to face with a dangerous monster.” The trailer’s spooky vibes have enticed us all and we have already marked our calendars.
