Hayley Atwell plays the role of Peggy Carter or Captain Carter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Carter is a British MI6 agent. She is also a member of the Strategic Scientific Reserve and was the beau of Steve Rogers during World War II. After the war, Atwell’s character became a founder of the S.H.I. E.L.D. Later, she became the director of the organization.
Peggy Carter first made her appearance in ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’. Marvel even made a series on Captain Carter on Netflix for two seasons. Hayley Atwell On Captain Carter’s MCU Future
Hayley Atwell finally responded to the call of the eager fans who can’t wait to see her donning Captain Carter’s uniform again. The star revealed that she is very much enthusiastic to play the character once more. “Well…I haven’t got news for you. But I share your enthusiasm. And I would love to if Marvel did find a home for her; that’s a home that feels worthy of her in terms of her evolution as a character and development as a character,” Atwelll said.
She added, “The experience I’ve had in playing her has given me the most incredible opportunity to hone my particular craft in this franchise. And I’ve got more to do, and because I feel the fans deserve that. In some ways, with a lot of people, she’s a minor player, and it wouldn’t make sense if I was to continue to be a minor player in that if it felt like, well, this is a different time. And also particularly as a woman with everything that’s happened the last few years. When she says in her timeline, ‘I know my value and everyone else’s opinion; it doesn’t matter,’ that’s really good.”
Will Captain Carter Return Again?
Fans were heartbroken over the fact that the series ‘Captain Carter‘, which was streaming on Netflix got cancelled after its second run. Ever since then, they have been waiting to see their beloved character on screen. Now it looks like there is still some ray of hope left . Disney+ has been purchasing the rights to a lot of Marvel series and reviving them like ‘Daredevil‘. This has created a chance for Captain Carter also to get revived and return to the screens.
As of now, Marvel has introduced the concept of the multiverse in its movies and series. This also paved the way for Captain Carter’s appearance in MCU series and movies. Most likely, Captain Carter might make an appearance in the series ‘Loki‘ as they have already introduced the multiverse in it. Fans can’t wait to see Haley Atwell as Captain Carter again.
