Kit Harington of ‘Game Of Thrones‘ fame made his MCU debut with Chloé Zhao’s ‘Eternals.’ Introduced as Dane Whitman, he was teased as a major character in the franchise’s future. Kit Harington as Dane Whitman was supposed to appear in the ‘Blade‘ reboot movie, but rumors suggest otherwise.
According to veteran industry insider Jeff Sneider, ‘Blade‘ may have cut off ties with Dane Whitman. In reworking the script, Marvel may have removed Dane Whitman/Black Knight from ‘Blade‘ starring Mahershala Ali. Let’s look into what could have been the reason for omitting Black Night from the ‘Blade‘ movie.

Will ‘Blade’ Reboot Star Kit Harrington As Black Knight?
With its current criticism about the quality of the movies, Marvel is scaling back the quantity for quality. It was reported that Mahershala Ali wasn’t happy with how the script turned out. It also turned to the original director Bassam Tariq walking away from the project. But it seems there might be a turnaround in the project with a more finessed script this time. However, it might not be good news for Kit Harrington.
On his podcast The Hot Mic (skip ahead to 39.29), Jeff Sneider talked about Black Knight not being in the revised ‘Blade‘ screenplay, saying, “Someone reached out to say that with ‘Blade,’ things have gotten a little bit better. Things have shaped up, the script is leaner and meaner, and they cut out the fat, but the script I heard about was like 87 pages, like there wasn’t enough and they’d shaved it to the bone.”

Which Characters Could Star In MCU’s ‘Blade’ Reboot?
Kit Harrington was introduced as Dane Whitman in the ‘Eternals.’ He played a romantic interest to Sersi (Gemma Chan). In the post-credits scene, we find him standing beside an old crate holding the Ebony sword. As he opens the box, a voice asks him if he’s ready for it. This moment alludes to his origins as Black Night.
But with Kit Harrington possibly out of the movie, could Marvel bring out characters from Wesley Snipes’ ‘Blade‘ trinity? Fans would love to see Deacon Frost and Hannibal King (played by Steven Dourff and Ryan Reynolds) popping up as supporting characters. Another important character in the ‘Blade‘ lore is Jamal Afari, a father figure to Blade.
The two form a mentor-mentee relationship. Last but not least, Mahershala Ali could also be fighting Dracula, the Prince of Darkness himself. Marvel has only recently dwelled into the supernatural with ‘Werewolf By Night.’ Bringing Dracula to their fold will make things exciting for MCU fans.
