Wilson Bethel, known for his portrayal of Bullseye in Netflix’s ‘Daredevil’, recently revealed how close he came to becoming one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most iconic heroes: Captain America.
During an appearance at a Fan Expo event, Bethel shared the emotional highs and lows of the experience, including donning the Captain America suit for a screen test.
Wilson Bethel Claims The Captain America Suit “Felt Incredible”
Speaking at the fan expo (via ScreenRant), Wilson Bethel opened up about the emotional rollercoaster of the casting process. “The hardest hit I took was… I came very close to being cast as Captain America,” he admitted. “I went through multiple rounds of screen testing, and the suit felt incredible.”

Bethel described the thrill of trying on the iconic costume, a moment that made his dreams feel within reach. “There were all these things happening that made me feel like I was getting the part,” he said. However, the dream came crashing down when his agent delivered the news.
“I remember my agent calling me one day, and they’re like, ‘No, actually, they offered it to Chris Evans’ or whatever,” he added. It’s hard not to empathize with Bethel’s disappointment. For any actor, getting as far as a screen test for a role of that magnitude is a career-defining moment, even if it doesn’t result in landing the part.
Additionally, Bethel’s own Marvel journey took a little longer to unfold. It wasn’t until 2018 that he joined the Marvel family as Benjamin Poindexter (aka Bullseye) in ‘Daredevil’ Season 3. While his portrayal was widely praised, missing out on being Captain America might still sting
