Wilson Bethel Teases A Bigger Marvel Role For Bullseye Beyond ‘Daredevil’

In Short
  • Wilson Bethel hints at Bullseye's potential expansion beyond Daredevil in the MCU.
  • Bullseye's character may evolve into a more complex role, possibly as a government operative.
  • A new, comic-accurate costume for Bullseye is in development for season 3 of 'Daredevil: Born Again.'

Bullseye has been one of Daredevil’s most formidable foes for years, but perhaps he’s finally getting his big break in the MCU. After ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ season 2 ended so dramatically, actor Wilson Bethel is openly teasing the possibility of Benjamin Poindexter’s future extending beyond Hell’s Kitchen. And makes a lot of sense.

Bullseye No Longer Feels Limited To Daredevil’s Corner Of Marvel

In a recent interview, Bethel noted that governments and shady organizations have employed Bullseye in Marvel Comics history. With the MCU already developing morally dubious groups such as the New Avengers, fans immediately began to wonder if Bullseye might be able to fit in there one day.

Yeah, I think there’s a very fair assumption to make, and I certainly won’t push back on it. We know from the comics, too, that at various moments, Bullseye has worked for the government in all kinds of shady capacities,” he told Collider.

It’s a good fit for a ruthless assassin like Poindexter, given the chaos and unpredictability in the MCU these days. The coolest aspect of Bullseye’s return is that he’s no longer just a one-dimensional villain for Marvel to use. Poindexter has been a terror, a crazy man, and a tragic figure throughout ‘Daredevil’ and ‘Born Again’.

That intricacy allows for a lot of room for Marvel to develop the character. Bullseye has served as a hired assassin, government operative, and even a reluctant antihero in the comics. The MCU seems to have had those thoughts in mind, too, after season 2 teased that strange forces might be controlling Poindexter’s next destination.

There’s also been a lot of interest in Mr. Charles and his bigger part in the MCU. As Luke Cage has been seemingly involved in the same kind of shady business abroad, it’s possible that Marvel is slowly building an entire system of darker, street-level stories for these characters. Just the thought of that makes Bullseye’s future sound much bigger.

A Comic-Accurate Bullseye May Just Be Here

One of the most anticipated changes is Bullseye’s new costume design. Bethel said there’s already a brand new suit being created for season 3, and he strongly suggested it will come closer to the comic-book version of the character. That’s big news for long-time Marvel fans.

Yeah, I’m a big advocate for a suit that is comic book-accurate And I will tell you this without giving anything away. There’s a new there’s a new suit in the works. I won’t say anything beyond that, but there’s definitely a new costume next season,” he shared.

Born Again’ has sometimes shied away from the more grounded characters’ comic-accurate costumes. However, it appears the series is getting more at ease with the bigger Marvel universe. It would be a good sign if Bullseye was given a more familiar appearance. This would indicate that Marvel believes he’s more than just a foil character.

Bullseye is now becoming an easy-to-love character that Marvel will likely be sticking around for many years to come. So, whether he’s joining the New Avengers, a darker government team or just a rogue killer wreaking havoc in the MCU, it’s clear that Poindexter’s story is just beginning.
