Queen Maeve Escaping ‘The Boys’ Might Be The Closest Thing To A Happy Ending

Many fans are still asking themselves the same question: where is Queen Maeve? Maeve was a major figure in ‘The Boys‘ for a long time but was completely absent in seasons 4 and now 5, even though Homelander’s dictatorship has grown and the world has gone even more crazy.

Her disappearance at first seems odd. Maeve is one of the few supes who can take on Homelander head-to-head and her fight against Homelander and Soldier Boy in season 3 is one of the most memorable moments in the series. However, the more you think, the more you realize how fitting it is that she is missing.

Homelander Still Believing Maeve Is Dead Explains Everything

With almost no one surviving Vought in this world, Maeve might have the best of luck in finding a happy ending in this universe. The public perception is that Queen Maeve died heroically at the end of season 3, trying to stop Soldier Boy’s destructive blast. But she did survive, though she lost her powers in the process.

That was the only thing that changed. In the absence of Compound V powers, Maeve was no longer a significant threat to Homelander. But more importantly, Homelander still seems to think she’s dead.

If he ever found out, there’s a good chance she would be locked up or murdered with others who are against his regime. It’s the secrecy that has likely kept characters like Starlight at arm’s length. If Maeve was brought back into the conflict, it would reveal her position and leave both her and Elena vulnerable.

It’s also a satisfying ending to the endless cycle of violence and manipulation for Maeve. She had been under Vought’s control for years, and had to sacrifice her morals to survive. Leaving everything behind might be her first true decision for herself.

Even The Deep Won’t Snitch This Time

One of the only people who might be able to reveal Maeve’s survival is The Deep. But it would probably kill him as well. In season 2, The Deep recovered the footage from Flight 37, which was used to tarnish Homelander’s reputation.

The Deep would almost surely be another casualty if Homelander found out about that betrayal. That silence between them keeps Maeve safe, for now. However, as there are just a few episodes remaining, there is always hope for one last time.

Despite being powerless now, Maeve was one of the few characters to truly challenge Homelander without fear. So, it would be the ultimate circle for ‘The Boys’ to come full circle and see her again one last time.
