It was a long wait! The highest-grossing film of all times ‘Avatar’ came out in the year 2009. And it’s been over a decade and the last month of this year will have the release of the sequel, ‘Avatar: The Way of Water‘. After the first film broke all possible records, the creator James Cameron signed on to create four more ‘Avatar’ movies. And finally, the second one is here.
A new trailer for the second ‘Avatar’ movie was released on November 2. From the mind-boggling visuals to the intricately crafted plot, the film is sure to be a cinematic treat. ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’: Plot And Release Date
The sequel is set twelve years after the happenings of the first movie. Jake Sully who is living now on the planet Pandora becomes the leader of the Na’vi people. He and Neytiri, a Na’vi native, have since started a family and have children of their own. Stephen Lang’s villain Colonel Miles Quaritch will be returning for this and the future installments of the franchise. The Metkayina people will play an important role in this movie. As these are beings that live among the reefs and oceans, the movie will be focussing mainly on underwater life in Pandora.
‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ will hit the screens on December 16, 2022. “It will be a natural extension of all the themes, the characters, and the spiritual undercurrents. Basically, if you loved the first movie, you’re gonna love these movies, and if you hated it, you’re probably gonna hate these. If you loved it at the time, and you said later you hated it, you’re probably gonna love these,” the director Cameron talked about his film to Vanity Fair.

New Characters, Cast And Crew
The epic science fiction film is directed by James Cameron and produced by 20th Century Studios. ‘Avatar: The Way of Water‘ features an array of actors returning from the first film, including Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Matt Gerald, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Dileep Rao, and Giovanni Ribisi. It is exciting to know that Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Edie Falco, Michelle Yeoh, Jemaine Clement, Oona Chaplin, and Vin Diesel will be also joining the team.
There are also new characters added in the sequel. There is a new tribe of people on Pandora, that is the reef-dwellers of the Metkayina. The ‘Titanic’ actress will play Ronal, a free diver whose the co-leader of the Metkayina tribe. Whereas Cliff Curtis plays the role of Tonowari, leader of the Metkayina. It is unknown what role Vin Diseal would have. Edie Falco as General Ardmore, Jemaine Clement as Dr. Ian Garvin, Michelle Yeoh as Dr. Karina Mogue, and Oona Chaplin as the character, Varang are the other roles.
