Timothée Chalamet is a hot topic at this moment. The ‘Interstellar‘ actor and Kylie Jenner are the couple under the lens as they have gone public with their relationship. It’s not just his relationship, but Chalamet has a few upcoming movies this year to showcase his incredible talent.
The movie ‘Wonka’ is set to hit the theatres in December this year. Alongside Timothée Chalamet, Hugh Grant, Rowan Atkinson, and Olivia Colman will appear in prominent roles in the movie. The ‘Little Women‘ actor grabbed the lead role in this movie without going through a single audition and here’s what helped him with that.

Timothée Chalamet Has A ‘Beautiful Singing Voice’
Talking to Total Film Magazine, Paul King, the director of ‘Wonka‘ confessed how it was Timothée Chalamet’s singing voice that got him the lead role in the movie. Chalamet portrays the younger version of Willy Wonka who is about to open his chocolate shop. The director was himself an ardent fan of the 27-year-old. He was also confident of Chalamet’s singing and dancing skills.
“[Chalamet]’s got a beautiful singing voice,” King said. “The person it reminded me of was Bing Crosby. There’s quite a range because it does go from a couple of bigger, showstopper-y sort of things, to moments of real, pure emotion and he can do it all… I’m going to sound like a crazed fan.” Bing Crosby has the best rendition of ‘White Christmas’ which is the world’s best-selling single of all time with over 100 million sales, Variety notes.

High School Musicals Helped Timothée Chalamet Get His Role In ‘Wonka’
Paul King also admitted knowing of Timothée Chalamet‘s singing skills from the actor’s high school musical performances that are on YouTube. Discussing the role of Willy Wonka, the actor was keen. “He’d done tap dancing in high school and he was like, ‘I’d quite like to show people I can do that,’” the filmmaker said.
Paul King doesn’t want his movie ‘Wonka’ to be referred to as a musical. “The Oompa Loompas sing a lot in the book, and Roald Dahl always uses poetry. But I didn’t want it to just become a musical where people are singing dialogue to each other for no discernible reason,” King said. “I felt like it was more like a movie with songs than a musical,” he added.
