Christopher Nolan Reveals The Reason For Choosing Cillian Murphy For ‘Oppenheimer’
Christopher Nolan’s choice of casting Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer can be called as perfect as Murphy is looking similar to the real-life personality. Nolan revealed the reasons for casting Murphy in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
Nolan stated that he was looking at the cover of the book ‘American Prometheus‘ for a long time and he saw someone who had a very intense look. He knew at the time that Murphy was perfect for this character.
Cillian also addressed the way Nolan approached him for the film and said, “He’s just so understated and matter-of-fact and British. It was like, ‘Cillian, look, I have a script, it’s Oppenheimer and I’d like you to play Oppenheimer.”

‘Oppenheimer’ Was Filmed In Only 57 Days
‘Oppenheimer’ was filmed in 57 days compared to ‘Dunkirk’ and ‘Tenet’ which were shot in 68 and 96 days. Cillian Murphy will be an important part of the film and this is the reason why the entire schedule was so intense for Murphy.
Despite all these, ‘Oppenheimer’ is Nolan’s longest film so far with a running time of 190 minutes. The production was done in such a way that the entire cast and crew resided together in one hotel. Murphy had to maintain distance from the rest of the people and he never joined them in any of the meetings or even for dinner.
