Disney’s first ‘Moana’ film was released in 2016 and people quickly fell in love with the character. The protagonist of the film Moana is a brave and adventurous young woman who feels a strong connection to the ocean and is chosen by the sea to restore the heart of Te Fiti.
The release date for the sequel of the film ‘Moana 2’ is 27th November 2024. While Moana was a 16-year-old in the first film, the teaser for the sequel hinted at taking a huge time jump and she appeared to be around 19 or 20 years old.
‘Moana 2’ will take place 3 years in the future. In the film, Moana will explore beyond the shores of Motunui to find people other than the ones on the island. Moreover, Auli’i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson will also return for the film and voice their respective characters.
Despite being very young in the first film, Moana demonstrated courage, determination, and a deep sense of responsibility to her people and her culture. Her strong and independent nature helped inspire millions of girls to break the bounds of traditional gender roles.

The Plot Of Moana 2
According to IMDB’s summary, the second film will be all about her journey in the Ocean. “After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana journeys to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous. Long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she has ever faced.”
While the first movie revolved around Moana going through hardships to save her people, ‘Moana 2’ will be all about her adventures outside of her island, Motunui. Additionally, there is also a live-action movie for Moana in the works which is set to release in 2026.
