Emily Blunt and Cillian Murphy, both British actors played a couple in Christopher Nolan’s Oscar-nominated film ‘Oppenheimer‘. The movie was a box office hit despite clashing with 2023’s biggest movie ‘Barbie’. Now both the actors are on the list of potential Oscar winners for their role.
Emily Blunt Apologises For Slapping Cillian For A Scene That’s Not Even In The Film
During an interview with The Sun newspaper, the British actress revealed details about a scene where she had to repeatedly slap Murphy at the director’s behest. Unsure of the intensity required she had both Nolan and Murphy encouraging her.
Emily shared, “Chris went, ‘Hit him.’ And I was like, ‘I don’t know.’ And Cillian was like, ‘Do it, do it… Chris was like, ‘He’ll be fine… do it.’ and so she did. Blunt expresses remorse, saying, “Sorry about your cheekbone, Cillian. Poor Cillian.”
Blunt elaborates on the incident sharing that despite the repeated takes, the scene was eventually left on the cutting room floor. She recalled that Murphy’s distinctive cheekbone became even more prominent, saying, “I just saw over the course of, like, ten takes, that very famous cheekbone became even more prominent — and it’s not even in the movie.”
