‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery‘ is easily one of the most anticipated films of 2022. The film serves as a standalone sequel to the highly successful 2019 mystery flick ‘Knives Out.’
Daniel Craig will be reprising his role as Benoit Blanc in the film, a brilliant detective taking on a new case. It also has an ensemble cast that includes Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline, Kate Hudson, and Dave Bautista.
The sequel will follow a tech billionaire Miles Bron who invites his friends for a getaway on his private Greek island. One of them turns up dead at that party and Detective Benoit Blanc is assigned to solve it.
It is slated to have a one-week limited theatrical release on November 23 in the United States and will release on Netflix on December 23.
Its The First Netflix Film To Have A Limited Theatrical Release
Rian Johnson’s highly anticipated ‘Knives Out‘ sequel will first release in the theatres before landing on Netflix. They previously said that it would play “in select theaters on a to-be-announced date.”
Later the streamer said that the film will hit theaters for a “special sneak preview” over Thanksgiving, a month before its Netflix release. The film had its world premiere at the 47th Toronto International Film Festival on September 10 where it was well received.
‘Glass Onion‘ will play in around 600 theaters domestically, which makes it the first Netflix film to debut across all three major U.S. theatrical chains (AMC, Regal, and Cinemark).
The mystery thriller will also play in selected theatres in countries like Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Spain, Israel, Australia, and New Zealand.
