“It’s A New Tone”: Lupita Nyong’o Teases ‘Wilder Ride’ In Apocalyptic Horror Film ‘A Quiet Place: Day One’

Actress Lupita Nyong’o, alongside co-star Joseph Quinn, offers some real insight into the upcoming prequel of the apocalyptic horror film series, ‘A Quiet Place,’ called ‘A Quiet Place: Day One’. Nyong’o called this explanatory exploration of the first movie’s ironically chaotic world a much ‘bigger’ and ‘wilder ride’.

The 41-year-old actress who’s a part of ‘A Quiet Place’s terrifying universe, recently graced the CinemaCon’s red carpet. While at this year’s Big Screen Achievement Awards, Nyong’o made a point to shed some light on her latest project.

Lupita Nyong’o, recognized as Star of the Year at the CinemaCon Awards, shared details about the highly anticipated prequel ‘A Quiet Place: Day One.’ Nyong’o lets fans know what to expect from the contextual dive into ‘A Quiet Place’ universe. ‘The Woman King’ star praises the bold new tone and grander scale brought to life in the latest installment. 

Franchise creator John Krasinski‘s vision for a fresh take on horror resonates throughout ‘Day One‘. In Nyong’o’s words, “What he relayed to me is that he was interested in doing something new with the franchise he created…but also with the genre of horror film, and finding new ways to get into that genre and to expand it.” She further added, “And I think that this film does that, It’s a new tone.”

With the pen and eyes of the new director Michael Sarnoski on the scene, Nyong’o said, “It’s different, it’s bigger, and it’s more — it’s a wilder ride. Because we’re in New York!” The nature of the film’s locations and settings will set it apart from the previous installments, which were very intimate, personal, and rural.

Set before the events of the original films, ‘A Quiet Place’ (2018) and ‘A Quiet Place Part II’ (2020), the third installment ‘A Quiet Place: Day One’ follows Nyong’o’s character, Sam. A girl striving to survive in the chaotic events of an alien invasion amid the bustling streets of New York. According to the insights delivered by Lupita Nyong’o herself, this prequel to The Quiet Universe promises to venture deeper into the harrowing world introduced in the previous films. showcasing a visceral and suspenseful narrative.

During the CinemaCon Awards ceremony, Nyong’o and her co-star Joseph Quinn were honored as Breakthrough Performer of the Year, for their outstanding contributions to cinema. Fans eagerly await the release of ‘A Quiet Place: Day One’ on June 28, to see for themselves if it’s as wild as marketed.
