Keanu Reeves has become synonymous with ‘John Wick’, the stoic assassin who fights his way through endless waves of enemies with lethal efficiency and an unrelenting thirst for vengeance. Yet, as much as fans would love to see the character return for a fifth installment, Reeves himself is not so sure his body can handle it.
Moreover, with over $1 billion in combined box office revenue, the franchise has left an indelible mark on modern action cinema. So, the possibility of Reeves leaving behind Wick is devastating for fans.
Keanu Reeves Wants To Do ‘John Wick 5’
In a recent interview on CBS Mornings, the 60-year-old actor opened up about the possibility of continuing the John Wick franchise. “You can never say never,” Reeves said, before humorously adding, “But my knees right now are saying, ‘You can’t do another John Wick.’ So my heart wants to, but I don’t know if my knees can do it.“

For an actor who has spent decades performing intense stunts and action sequences, it’s no surprise that the physical toll of playing John Wick has started to catch up. While Reeves has maintained a reputation for his remarkable dedication to stunt work and fight choreography, even he has his limits.
“I wouldn’t do a John Wick film without director Chad Stahelski,” Reeves told EW. So, the decision to reprise his role ultimately depends on the right circumstances and a compelling story. Additionally, even if Reeves doesn’t return for another mainline John Wick movie, fans won’t have to say goodbye to the character just yet.
Reeves will reprise his role in ‘Ballerina’, a spin-off starring Ana de Armas. Set between the events of ‘John Wick: Chapter – Parabellum’ and ‘Chapter 4’, the film will see Wick in a smaller but impactful role. “It was fun to put the suit back on,” Reeves said of the project.
The Ambiguous Ending Of ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’ Left The Door Wide Open For A Fifth Film
The fourth film in the ‘John Wick’ franchise left fans with more questions than answers. After an epic duel on the steps of the Sacré-Cœur in Paris, John Wick is left gravely injured. Instead of killing his old friend, Caine Wick uses his last bullet to take down the Marquis Vincent de Gramont.

In his final moments, he envisions his late wife, Helen, before seemingly succumbing to his injuries. So, naturally, the ambiguity of the ending has fueled speculation among fans. Moreover, director Chad Stahelski initially shot a version where Wick’s survival was clear. However, they eventually decided on a more uncertain conclusion.
It gave the character an air of finality, allowing fans to decide for themselves whether Wick found peace or simply faded away into the shadows. Speaking about the ending, Reeves noted, “For me, it feels really right that John Wick finds peace.” Yet, the door remains slightly ajar for a potential continuation. “Never say never,” Reeves added.
