Just a few weeks short of the crime-drama-mystery-superhero movie, ‘Madame Web‘ a second set of character posters graces us. The new entry into the Sony Universe’s Spiderverse will come in theatres on February 14.
The posters give a closeup look into the four superheroines of the movie. The main villain, Ezekiel Sims remains unmasked.

All We Know About The Characters Of ‘Madame Web’
‘Madame Web’ is the first entry into the Spiderverse franchise that explores in-depth female versions of Spider-man from the original Marvel comics. Starring Dakota Johnson as the titular character Madame Web, we see the movie unravel how the four women are connected. The description reads, “Forced to confront revelations about her past, she forges a relationship with three young women destined for powerful futures . . . if they can all survive a deadly present.”
The woman who (as the previous posters say) “connects them all” is Cassandra Webb (played by Dakota Johnson) who is a paramedic in Manhattan. New York discovers she might have clairvoyant powers. We see through her visions that an older man (Ezekiel Sims played by Tahar Rahim) is set on killing her along with three other women, Julia Carpenter (Sydney Sweeney), Mattie Franklin (Celeste O’Connor ), and Anya Corazon ( Isabela Merced).
The movie has diverged from the original comic version of Madame Web’s origin story which is about a woman who suffered from a genetic auto-neural disintegrating disease that rendered her paralyzed from the neck down. However, she gains psychic powers due to the event and survives through a web-shaped life support system. The origin story might be brought up as an easter egg in the movie though, only time shall tell. It is also to note that Madame Web’s universe is set in the same universe as ‘Venom‘ and ‘Morbius‘, so we might see a few crossovers if the movie does well.

Possible Foreshadowing In The Poster
The newly released all-black and white posters stand in quite a contrast to the previously released vibrantly colored poster. The juxtaposition most probably indicates the alter egos of the girls, the superheroines they are destined to become. The noir style of the new poster might also indicate that maybe the alter egos are not all rainbows and roses (well it is just a speculation).
The public morale seems to be down after the failure of the last two Sony Universe Spidervere movies which has led to criticism of ‘Madame Web’ too. It remains to be seen if the girls save the day and potentially a sequel after the release.
