Is ‘Mamma Mia 3’ happening? Well, this is the question fans are eagerly waiting to have answers to. With the success of ‘Mamma Mia!’ in 2008 and 2018’s ‘Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again’, fans are ready for ‘Mamma Mia 3‘ and it seems something is cooking. Meryl Streep is ever ready for the third installment of the film series.
During an interview, she aimed at the possibilities of the same and even had an idea for the storyline of the movie.
Meryl Streep Hints At ‘Mamma Mia 3’
Meryl Streep told Deadline that her return to the third installment of ‘Mamma Mia‘ is “imminent”. The actress was honored as the acting legend she is with an Honorary Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival’s opening ceremony the Grand Théâtre Lumière.
During the event, she confirmed that there might be a possibility of the third part of ‘Mamma Mia‘. Meryl said, “Of course, I want to do it.” But one thing that comes as a problem is that Meryl’s character Donna Sheridan died in the second part, hence the producer Judy Craymer has to look for another storyline to add her character back.
But Meryl also has an idea for this and has written it in her secret diary. The Oscar-winning actress said, “I don’t know how they’re going to do it. They have an idea. I haven’t heard it yet but it’s in [my diary] and I’m going to hear about it pretty soon.”
“Of course I want to do it. I think folks love it,” she added.

Streep Regrets Not Going Back To ‘Here We Go Again’
Meryl Streep also shares that she has regrets for not joining the movie series for ‘Mamma Mia! Here We are again’. Regardless she had fun meeting with the cast including Julie Walters, Christine Baranski, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Amanda Seyfried, and Dominic Cooper at a set meeting.
Moreover, her long-time agent, CAA’s Kevin Huvane who was seated next to her agreed to the fact that they’re optimistic for a third part of the movie. He said, “We’re optimistic about it.” They noted Universal’s keenness to work on the project and get it made.
The movie is the perfect blend of musical comedy with a touch of the socio-economic and feminist status of Donna and her daughter Sophie. There has been no official confirmation yet, regarding the third part of the movie but chances are high.
