Wilde spoke about the memorable filming experience during the July 8 episode of the Table Manners podcast with Jessie Ware. Wilde stars alongside Penélope Cruz, Seth Rogen, and Edward Norton in the upcoming A24 dark comedy ‘The Invite‘, which follows two couples whose dinner party spirals into chaos.

Looking back on one particular scene, Wilde shared that Cruz completely surprised her by changing the moment on the spot without warning. “There’s a moment in the film where she improvised a kiss with me,” Wilde recalled.
“I was so shocked when she did it that I actually turned my head and looked directly into the lens. And then through my camera operator, who said ‘Olivia,’ and I said, ‘Namaste!’ for some reason.”

The actress explained that the surprise completely took over her thoughts. Even though she was caught off guard, she admired Cruz’s instincts as a performer and loved how natural the moment felt on screen.

Wilde admitted she still laughs when thinking about her unusual reaction. She said, “That’s the only thing that came to my mind, ‘Namaste‘. And everyone was like, what, and I was like, I don’t know. My mind went blank because I was so struck by this moment. I lost control. I was so madly in love with it.”
Although the kiss had not been planned, Wilde believed it worked perfectly for the story. She praised Cruz’s fearless acting style and revealed that the scene stayed in the final version of the movie. It’s because it added something special to the relationship between their characters.
