‘The Equalizer 3’: Plot, Cast, Release Date Of The Denzel Washington-Starrer

Denzel Washington, aka Robert McCall, is back to kiss some asses! This time, it is the Italian Mafia. Sony Pictures released the anticipated trailer for ‘The Equalizer 3’ on April 25, 2023. It is the last chapter of ‘The Equalizer’ franchise. It was the first-ever franchise that the Oscar-winning actor starred in.

Antoine Fuqua has successfully launched the franchise. Now he is back with a bang for the third and final chapter. ‘The Equalizer’ is a good example of a successful adaptation of a TV series into a big motion picture. In the 1980s, Michael Sloan and Richard Lindheim co-created this spy thriller. After the last episode in 1989, Fuqua and Richard Wenk made it into a successful celluloid franchise, with its third chapter due to release soon.

The progress of ‘The Equalizer’ franchise has been praiseworthy. Now that it is in its final chapter, the scale and narrative have become grander. This time, Antoine Fuqua took Robert McCall to Europe, where new enemies are awaiting the retired Marine.

The trailer for the film is out, and Denzel Washington looks suave in the action avatar. In a stylized way, he asks the bad guys to figure out their fate in nine seconds. But there are some emotional moments in the film as well.

The new addition to the film is Dakota Fanning. Dakota and Denzel worked together in 2004 in ‘Man on Fire.’ Other cast members include Bruno Bilotta, Remo Girone, Sonia Ammar, David Denman, and Andrea Doddero. Robert Richardson, who lent enthralling camera work to films like ‘Once Upon A Time In Hollywood,’ has done the cinematography. ‘The Equalizer 3’ is set to release on September 1, 2023.

The official plot of the film is: “Since giving up his life as a government assassin, Robert McCall (Denzel Washington) has struggled to reconcile the horrific things he’s done in the past and finds a strange solace in serving justice on behalf of the oppressed.”

It continues, “Finding himself surprisingly at home in Southern Italy, he discovers his new friends are under the control of local crime bosses. As events turn deadly, McCall knows what he has to do: become his friends’ protector by taking on the mafia.”

In 2004, Denzel Washington and Dakota Fanning starred in Tony Scott’s action thriller titled ‘Man On Fire.’ In the film, Denzel played an ex-CIA officer who is entrusted with a duty to protect Pita Ramos, played by a nine-year-old Dakota. But, when she gets kidnapped, he seeks vengeance. Now, the two are reunited for ‘The Equalizer 3.’

During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Dakota Fanning excitedly talked about her co-star, Denzel Washington. She said, “I think it’s so rare to get to work with someone when you’re nine years old and then work with them again when you’re [in your 20s].” It was like a dream come true for the actress to work again with Washington. Though she did not star in the previous films, Dakota said, “I’m a fan of the first two films, so getting to join it and be a little part of it was really amazing.”
