All We Know About ‘Madame Web’
In the comics, Madame Web, aka Cassandra Webb, is a paralyzed, blind, telepathic, clairvoyant, and precognitive mutant. The first images from the set suggest the film is set in the 2000s. Not to get ahead of ourselves, it is the same setting as Sam Raimi’s ‘Spider Man‘ trilogy.
It remains to be seen if Dakota Johnson is playing the Cassandra Webb or Julia Carpenter version of the character. While the film’s plot is under wraps, we know Isabela Merced plays a character named Anya Corazon. In comics, the name is associated with Spider-Girl.
Celeste O’Connor, another actor in the cast, is playing Mattie Franklin. Comic book fans will recognize the name as Spider-Woman. The movie is likely an origin story for various web-swinging heroes. The leaked set photos of actor Tahir Rahim suggest he plays Eziekel Sims in the spinoff movie.
Directed by S.J Clarkson and co-written by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama, ‘Madame Web’ stars Dakota Johnson in the titular role. Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced, Tahar Rahim, Emma Roberts, Mike Epps, Adam Scott, and Zosia Mamet comprise the rest of the cast. ‘Madame Web’ has a theatrical release date for June 7, 2023.
