“You’ve Got To Be Kidding Me”: Owen Wilson Turned Down $12 Million Offer To Be A Part Of ‘The Juice’ Movie Portraying O.J. Simpson As Innocent

Owen Wilson, the comedic actor known for his infectious grin and roles in films like ‘Zoolander’ and ‘Wedding Crashers,’ has always been a box-office draw. Besides his career, Wilson is known to be outspoken about the things he doesn’t like.

His integrity shone through in his decision to reject a reportedly lucrative role portraying O.J. Simpson as innocent. The hefty sum of $12 million wasn’t enough to sway him. This wasn’t just about turning down a movie; it was about taking a stand.

In a recent turn of events, Wilson reportedly turned down $12 million to play a role in a movie with a controversial premise. The upcoming film ‘The Juice’ portrays O.J. Simpson as innocent of the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman.

News of Wilson’s rejection first emerged in 2021 when the movie, titled ‘The Juice,’ was in pre-production. While details about the script remain scarce, it was described as a satirical thriller exploring an alternate reality where Simpson is found not guilty.

Director Joshua Newton talked to The Hollywood Reporter about Owen’s response. When presented with the offer, Wilson’s response was reportedly a flat-out, “If you think I’m going to take the lead role in a movie about how OJ didn’t do it, you’ve got to be kidding me.” This blunt statement speaks volumes about his character. Additionally, it showcases how he wasn’t afraid to walk away from a significant financial opportunity because it conflicted with his beliefs.

Wilson’s decision wasn’t just about the verdict itself. It was about respecting the victims and the complexities of the case. By refusing the role, he sent a powerful message that Hollywood shouldn’t rewrite history or trivialize such a serious event.

Additionally, people were quick to shower him with praise for taking a stand. A lot of people agreed that the idea of the movie sounded stupid, awful, and insensitive. The premise of the movie was enough the enrage the audience. So, only time will tell how the movie will do after its release.
