    Critics and purists criticized the move to give the Grammy-winning artist a slot at the venue. But Alex Conyngham, son of Alex Conyngham, stood by the decision. He said that the organizers have also tried to push the envelope with radical pop acts like Madonna and Robbie Williams.

    Alex Conyngham opined, “The fact is Harry Styles is one of the hottest artists in the world at the moment. He’s a great showman and I think he’s going to bring something different to Slane.”

    He continued,“Hopefully in the annals of history the Harry Styles show will go down as one of the great Slane shows as well as many others.”
