It’s been a difficult few years for Ariana Grande, and the pop sensation has been evidently absent from the main music scene. The star went through a divorce with ex-husband Dalton Gomez, but also found new love in the same year with her current boyfriend Ethan Slater.
As it has been a year of ups and downs for the star, she called out people who have “misunderstood” her and made “assumptions” about her throughout a “transformative” year of “challenges” just last week. But Grande is moving on, as she just announced her comeback to music after three years.

Ariana Grande Announces The Release Of New Solo After 3 Years
Ariana Grande brought exciting news for her fans in the new year, as she announced that she is making a return to solo music after a three-year hiatus. The 30-year-old pop sensation said her upcoming single ‘Yes, And?’ would be released on January 12, and her fanbase is joyous.
Grande took to Instagram to tease her new project with a photo of herself adorned in bold red lipstick, likely serving as the artwork for the impending single. The songstress captioned it: “yes, and? ♡ 1.12,” officially setting the countdown in motion.
Grande’s fans can also pre-save the track through a link and are in for a treat with news of a physical CD release, as shared on her Sweetener Instagram page. Grande’s last studio album, ‘Positions’, dropped in 2020, followed by a deluxe version in January 2021. Since then, the star has not taken up a solo venture.
However, Grande did collaborate on various singles since ‘Positions’, including a Kid Cudi track in 2021, a remix of The Weeknd’s ‘Save Your Tears’, and a 2023 remix of ‘Die For You’. Apart from her music projects, Grande has also ventured into business with her REM Beauty brand. The star is also testing the waters in acting as she is set to take up an upcoming role in the movie adaptation of ‘Wicked’, where she plays the character of Glinda the Good Witch.

2023 Was A “Challenging” Year For Ariana
Ariana Grande commemorated the 10th anniversary of her debut album, ‘Yours Truly’ in August, with a reissue featuring new live recordings. At the time, the star asserted that the year that went by had been challenging and transformative at the same time for her. However, she said she’s grateful for the support from her people and the joy she found in her work and collaborations.
“I have never felt more pride of joy or live while simultaneously feeling so deeply misunderstood by people who don’t know me, who piece whispers together and make what they want out of me and their assumptions of my life,” she wrote in a lengthy Instagram Story in late December 2023.
“I gave everything I could have possibly given of my heart and of myself to the projects I was fortunate enough to be a part of and learned so much from every brilliant, beautiful, soul that I had the privilege of creating art with and crossing paths with this year,” she continued.
Grande also met her current boyfriend Slater on the set of ‘Wicked’ after her divorce from Dalton Gomez. She is reportedly happy with the relationship, and feels “more human than ever.”
With ‘Yes, And?’ set for release soon, Grande has given her fans a reason to kick off the new year with excitement. The single will be available for purchase and streaming starting January 12.
