In October 2023, Sabrina Carpenter released the Halloween-inspired music video for the single ‘Feather’, but the shooting location landed her in trouble. A part of the video was shot in the Catholic Church called Our Lady of Mount Caramel-Annunciation Parish in Brooklyn. She was dressed in a black, short dress.

After the music video was released, Bishop Robert J. Brennan released a statement via the Catholic News Agency. He was appalled by the video.

He told the agency, “The parish did not follow diocesan policy regarding the filming on church property, which includes a review of the scenes and script.” After the video, the pastor, Monsignor Jamie Gigantiello, was relieved “of his administrative oversight of the parish.”

Sabrina Carpenter talked to Variety about the situation. She claimed that after the video, the establishment had to be re-blessed. She said, “We got the approval in advance,” and claimed, “Jesus was a carpenter.”
