While Hollywood is still in the merry spirit of Christmas, Shakira is overwhelmed with the unique gift she got from the people in her Colombian hometown. Not just the singer herself, her family is also delighted with the gift.
The singer took to Instagram to thank the people in her hometown, stating that “it’s too much for her little heart“. She also posted pictures of the gift, along with some more with her family showing it off. Read on to know what it is that rocked Shakira’s Christmas.

The Mystery Gift That’s “Too Much” For Shakira’s Little Heart
The 46-year-old Columbian singer has surely made it big, but she has not forgotten her roots. Now and then, Shakira acknowledges her culture and reconnects with it quite often as well. This Christmas, the people from her native village have given her all the more reason to do that.
The 46-year-old singer has a bronze statue of herself made by the people in her hometown of Barranquilla in Colombia. The Grammy winner took to social media to share the news, as she revealed that the 21-foot-tall statue.
Shakira also clarified that the statue captures her iconic ‘Hips Don’t Lie‘ dance move from the 2005 music video. In the post, she also shared pictures of her family at the statue’s site. In the first pictures, her parents, William Mebarak Chadid and Nidia Ripoll Torrado, were standing with Shakira’s statue. The singer noted that it was also her mother’s birthday.
“It makes me happy to share this with my parents and especially my mother on her birthday,” she wrote in the post. The other photos in the post featured her parents and brothers alongside the Mayor of Barranquilla, as well as a solo shot of the statue and its dedication.
The dedication described her as having “a heart that composes, hips that do not lie, an unmatched talent, a voice that moves masses, and bare feet that march for the good of childhood and humanity.”
Seemingly overwhelmed by the dedication, Shakira wrote, “This is too much for my little heart.”

Shakira Says She Owes Her Success To Her Fans
The year seems to have gone pretty well for Shakira as she was also recognized as the No. 1 most-streamed female Latin artist in Spotify’s history. Her Colombian fanbase also started the #ShakiraDeservesADay campaign which led them to celebrating Shakira Day in September.
As happy as Shakira was to have receive the overwhelming gift, she thanked her fans for their constant support and said that it is because of them that she has reached a point in her career that she is a global star. During recent interview with Spotify’s ‘For the Record’, she said, “They’ve known how to understand me better than anybody, and they’ve carried me to where I am today with their unwavering support.”
Speaking about her Colombian roots, she said the country has had a profound influence on her artistry. “Colombia is a never-ending source of inspiration: for colors, culture, sounds, stories, folklore, and food. It’s such a rich culture, and I’m so grateful to have been raised where I was and have it be my lifelong muse,” she said during the interview.
