However, as the Writers Strike ended, Taylor Swift announced that she would release the ‘Eras Tour’ concert film worldwide. Due to this, there was a spike in pre-sales. Now, the official distributor of the concert film, AMC Theaters, has released the official figure of the pre-sales. As per the report, ‘Eras Tour’ has surpassed $100 million in pre-bookings. The summer of 2023 marked the release of some of the best commercial cinema in some time. It was the clash between Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer’ and Greta Gerwig’s ‘Barbie’.

During the opening weekend of the release, ‘Barbie’ earned $162 million, joining ‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie’ and ‘Spiderman: Across the Spider-Verse’ by having a smashing opening weekend in 2023.

Now, several distributors have told The Hollywood Reporter that the ‘Eras Tour’ film will also enter the $100 million club during the opening weekend.

Shawn Robbins, the Chief Analyst at Boxoffice.com, said, “It is still very early days for such a highly unique release. That said, nine digits looks very attainable for the opening weekend if capacity continues to grow with additional theaters and showtimes, and especially if promotion ramps up more in the next few weeks to attract the non-Swifties as part of a true theatrical event.”
