Taylor Swift unveiled new details about her breakup with Joe Alwyn, right before she released her breakup album ‘The Tortured Poets Department’. Less than two weeks away, the singer made a surprising disclosure that all the romantic songs she had written for the actor, were not in fact romantic and were just written in a state of delusion.
On Friday, Swift released five new playlists through Apple Music, organizing almost all her songs from all of her fully owned albums into ‘five stages of Grief’. Though most of them fit the themes, fans were surprised to see the commentary on songs she wrote for Alwyn.
In a playlist that included songs such as Lavender Haze, Snow On The Beach, Sweet Nothing, Willow, Cruel Summer, Lover, Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince, and False God, Swift added a message saying, “This is a list of songs about getting so caught up in the idea of something that you have a hard time seeing the red flags, possibly resulting in moments of denial [and] delusion.”
Needless to say, this sent fans on a whole new spiral as they speculated on the relationship, and how, according to Swift, the love songs she wrote for him were in fact just an act of delusion. As of now, fans are anticipating Taylor’s album on 19th April which will possibly unfold more of the Joe-Taylor lore.

Taylor Swift And Joe Alwyn’s Breakup
Though reports suggest that the breakup was amicable, Swift’s commentary says the opposite. After the breakup, the singer released the song ‘You’re Losing Me’, singing about the few instances before the breakup where she saw the relationship breaking down.
Post that song, fans speculated that the reason behind the breakup lay in Joe’s indifference and apathy towards Taylor’s feelings. Meanwhile, the actor has not, so far, made any comments on the breakup, making all the details available one-sided and restricted to Taylor’s side of the story.
Currently, Swift’s eleventh album’s tracklist seems like it’ll reveal a lot about the breakup. More information is out on April 19th.
