Taylor Swift Plays ‘You’re Losing Me’ On Stage For The First Time Dedicated To Her Ex-Boyfriend Joe Alwyn

Taylor Swift might not talk a lot about her personal life, but she’ll certainly make sure to tell fans through the art of music. During the Australian leg of her tour, the Grammy-winning singer sang ‘You’re Losing Me’ for the very first time after its release and fans think she might be teasing her new album.

In case you didn’t know, ‘You’re Losing Me‘ is based on Swift’s breakup with Joe Alwyn and tells her side of the story on how they eventually fell out of love.

In case you didn’t know, during every show she does, Taylor Swift introduces two surprise songs for the fans that she sings the acoustic versions of. These were, initially, songs she had never sung live during the tour and hence it was always a game of guessing and wishing for fans.

During her Australian tour, Swift dropped a surprise song fans weren’t expecting from her: introducing it as “I’ve never played this song live before. It’s one of my favorites,” Swift performed the breakup ballad ‘You’re Losing Me’.

While many fans were excited to hear the song live, some gathered that this might be a message that her new album The Tortured Poets Department is actually about Joe Alwyn.

After her breakup with Joe Alwyn after six years, Swift put out this song as one of the bonus tracks from the limited edition copies of ‘Midnights.’ It was the first time she had addressed her breakup, and she painted a picture of how things could have gone wrong between her and someone she thought was her ‘endgame.’

In the song, Swift mentions that towards the end Alwyn got increasingly indifferent to Swift’s feelings which might have led her to feel differently about the relationship. She also sings a line “I wouldn’t marry me either” that hints at a probable desire of hers to marry Joe, which was probably denied by him.

After the release of the song, fans started to dislike Alwyn, calling him out for not treating Swift well. Though none of them have actually confirmed that the song is about their relationship, Swifties have drawn plenty of parallels.

As of now, Swift is expected to reveal more about their relationship through her new album ‘The Tortured Poets Department‘.
