Matty Healy and The 1975 are relishing their current status as indie-rock sensations. The latest album, ‘Being Funny In A Foreign Language‘ is telling of the band’s conceptual progress. With ‘Foreign Language,’ Healy and The 1975 have let go of the notion of creating masterpieces. Instead, the album shows the band’s attention to details in the here and now. For their latest album, they’ve focused on just being in the studio and playing the music to the best of their abilities.
Healy sat down with Tom Power to talk about the thematic obsessions behind their music. Soon, their conversation turned to Oasis. The 1975 frontman is critical of the feud between Liam and Noel Gallagher and wants them to “stop marding” and reunite Oasis for good.

Matty Healy Calls Out The Gallagher Brothers
Toward the end of their conversation, host Tom Power asks Matty Healy of one thing he’s most proud of about the band. Healy takes no time to answer, saying it’s how his band is secure in their position and the contributions to the music.
More than bandmates, they’re friends who laugh and joke around occasionally. It’s the camaraderie of friends that keeps them grounded. Matty Healy doesn’t take this lightly, using the breakup of Oasis as an example. “What are they doing?” asks a disappointed Healy as he mentions the British band.
It seems silly to Matty Healy not to let go of the past. He wants the band to get back together for what’s still one of the most extraordinary musical acts in the world. Healy wants them to “grow up” and “stop marding.” He remains a fan of Oasis, not particularly caring about the solo acts that have come later.

Why Is Oasis No Longer Together?
Iconic musical acts walking away at the height of their stardom is not a novelty concept. But before the fistfights and hurtful accusations, Oasis was on their way to the rock and roll glory. I mean, who doesn’t jam out to Wonderwall occasionally?
In the 1990s, Liam Gallagher had a band called Rain. Members consisted of Paul Arthurs (guitar), Paul McGuigan (bass guitar), and Tony McCarroll (drums). When Noel joined as a final fifth member, they became Oasis. And this is where the long history of full-blown arguments and physical fights began.
When Noel came on, he wanted complete creative control. He demanded to take on songwriting duties and hold over the band’s musical direction. The idea was to not get in his way while he made the band famous using his industry connection. Soon, Noel’s despotic handling of the band and Liam’s propensity for a drink saw them clashing on many occasions.
Ultimately, Oasis disbanded in 2009. Set to perform at the Rock En Seine festival in Paris, both brothers had a first fight. Noel Gallagher announced this departure by citing his brother as the primary source of tension. No surprises there, honestly.
“It’s with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight…People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer… He’s like a man with a fork in a world of soup.” were the parting words of Noel Gallagher.

There have been rumors of reunions, but constant feuding between the brothers makes it impossible. Liam Gallagher responded to Matty Healy’s call to reunite with a pointed answer, saying, “It’s our time to waste who made him the boss of time.”
