THE BOYZ’ Sunwoo Gets Assaulted By Stalker Fan In Dorm, Takes Legal Action

K-pop fans’ toxic behavior has often been called out by idols in the industry. The fans. labeled as ‘saesangs’, who are obsessive admirers who end up invading the space of idols have been a huge problem for the industry. K-pop band THE BOYZ’s member Sunwoo got assaulted by a saesang in his dorm, leading to a prompt hospital visit.

The band was back from practice when Sunwoo and a staff member got assaulted by the fan, as a result of which, IST Entertainment threatened serious legal action.

Sunwoo Gets Assaulted By Saesang In Dorm

In a startling occurrence, a sasaeng fan attacked Sunwoo and a staff member of THE BOYZ in their dorm. The incident happened on November 9 while Sunwoo was heading back to the dorm after finishing a schedule, according to reports on November 14. As Sunwoo got out of the elevator, the stalker fan, who had been lurking on the emergency stairs, came toward him, causing an uncomfortable and dangerous situation.

Sunwoo reacted quickly and informed a staff member about the invader right away. They stood up to the person together until the police showed up. But as the altercation intensified, the stalker started acting violently. While trying to restrain the intruder during the altercation, the staff member was hit several times. The fan is presently being investigated by the police after being taken into custody on trespassing and assault accusations.

IST Entertainment Issues Statement After Sunwoo’s Assault

IST Entertainment wrote on social media, “Immediately after the incident, Sunwoo and our staff visited a nearby hospital for examination and treatment. We prioritize the artist’s health and well-being and are conducting regular condition checks.”

Further adding that this is not the first time an alarming incident has happened, the company wrote, “Recently, we discovered a tracking device on the artist’s vehicle and identified intentional damage to another vehicle’s tires. We have filed police reports and secured CCTV footage to prevent any recurrence.”

“These actions are clear illegal acts that cause mental and material harm. We are responding with a zero-tolerance policy and will take firm legal action.”
