Why Pusha T Is Not A Part Of G.O.O.D Music Founded By Kanye West?

It is a celebratory year for the rapper Pusha T. In 2022, he released his 10th studio album ‘It’s Almost Dry’. After putting in hard work for more than a decade, the Virginia rapper is basking in the glory of the success of the album. The 12-tracks album debuted at No.1 position on Billboard 200 when it was released. The coke rapper’s fourth solo album is nominated for the ‘Best Rap Album’ at the 65th Grammy Awards. Along with Jay Z, Pharell Williams, Lil Uzi Vert, Pusha has Kanye West on the album as well.

The producers on the album are Def Jam Recordings and Getting Out Our Dreams (G.O.O.D) Inc. The latter production company is that of Ye. Along with Kanye, Pusha T has given us some bangers like ‘So Appalled’ on ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’, ‘Infrared’ on ‘Daytona’, ‘Pain’ on ‘My Name Is Name’, and many more. Kanye signed him in 2010 for his fifth studio album. In 2015, he became the President of G.O.O.D Music because he was well “entrenched” in the culture. But, after seven years, the ‘Lord Willin’ ‘ artist is not a part of the company anymore.

In recent times, Kanye West has tainted his brand and image with his erratic behavior and statements. The last few months of 2022 did not turn well for the Atlanta rapper. In October 2022, Ye sparked controversy when he introduced a new line of Yeezy shirts which had ‘White Lives Matter’ printed on them. The white supremacists coined the phrase against ‘Black Lives Matter’, a movement against police brutality and racism.

West received a lot of flak for using the phrase and perpetuating his defense in doing so. Due to his hate-spewing behavior, he lost many collaborations including Balenciaga, Adidas, and Def Jam Recordings. In October 2022, along with other business conglomerates, Def Jam Recordings sacked Ye and his label G.O.O.D Music.

The powerhouse label, which represented Lady Gaga, has cut ties due to his racially charged statements and anti-semitism. Pusha T, who is with Def Jam Recordings, told XXL magazine that he is no longer a part of Ye’s label. When the interviewer asked whether he is still a part of G.O.O.D Music, he denied it. He said, “I’m at Def Jam. I have a 50/50 venture with Def Jam. For my own music and my label [Heir Wave Music Group].

While talking to XXL, Pusha T revealed what Ye and he talked about. He said, “I was still on your. I express myself to him a lot. He expressed his thoughts to me. And he got off the phone saying, ‘Thank you. I know you don’t agree with me, but you never kill me in the public. And some people can’t wait to do that'”.

Ye has always pushed new talent with collaborations and shout outs. He has been an integral part of the artist’s career, and Pusha T also admits that the producer has given him the creative liberty. The rapper continued, “We started working together in 2010. So, my relationship with him has never been like everybody else’s in regard to the filter. I never had a filter with him. I’ve always spoke my mind. People gotta remember, too. This isn’t new for me, when it comes to disagreeing with him politically and things like that”.

However, their disagreement never infiltrated the creative partnership between them. The ‘Nosetalgia’ rapper said, “Remember, I’m the one that said the MAGA hat is the new Klu Klux Klan hood while he’s making my album. He beefing with Obama. I met Obama. But it’s the same thing with him and the Drake thing. I’m going through this and that, he’s doing shows [with Drake]”. The rapper is surely upset with the negative things he has said recently.
