Young Dolph was an American rapper and songwriter. Dolph started rapping in 2008 and even opened an independent record label, Paper Route Empire. Subsequently, Dolph worked with other popular rappers like Gucci Mane, Young Scooter, and 2 Chainz. His debut solo album, ‘King of Memphis’ gained Dolph popularity. And after that, he decided to devote himself to rapping. He took a bold move, unlike others, and opened an independent record label, Paper Route Empire, in 2010. ‘Welcome 2 Dolph World‘ was the first mixtape released by the label. In the course of the next few years, Young Dolph worked with 8Ball & MJG, 2 Chainz, Gucci Mane, and Young Scooter. Meanwhile, Dolph developed his own flow of rap.

Although the album was a hit, the title offended other Memphis rappers, especially Yo Gotti.

Later in 2017, he signed his cousin by marriage, Key Glock, to his record. Together they released an album and a single, ‘Major’ and ‘Dum and Dummer’. In 2020, Dolph revealed on Instagram that he intended to retire and spend more time with his children. Personal Life
Young Dolph was born on 27 July 1985 in Chicago, Illinois. His real name was Adolph Robert Thornton Jr. He was raised by his grandmother, Ida Mae, whom he claimed to be “the meanest m*********er in the world”, with Revolt. The living situation was so because both of his parents were substance abusers. Ida died on 5 March 2005, battling lung cancer. Dolph then met his partner, Mia Jaye, around 2010.
Mia and the rapper were together for over a decade. And they had a boy Tre, and a girl, Ari. After his death, Mia shared with ABC News, that the couple was planning their wedding before he was murdered. Dolph was second cousin to another rapper, Juice WRLD, who also died two years later.

He said, “Damn! @youngdolph rarely rapped about his real estate portfolio but he owned over 100 properties in Memphis and he also purchased a foreclosure for his children every year for their birthdays. Young Dolph’s Death And Legacy
While visiting Memphis, Young Dolph frequented a bakery, Makeda’s Homemade Butter Cookies. On 17 November 2021, however, the rapper was met with heavy gunfire. Two gunmen appeared in a two-door white Mercedes and shot him down. The autopsy report revealed that Dolph sustained twenty-two gunshots on the back and forehead. On 30 November 2021, a funeral service was arranged and Dolph was buried in a cemetery near Hamilton High School, where he used to go.
Two people were suspected of his homicide, and soon in January, two people were arrested. However, the trial of his murder has not been conducted yet. In honor of his memory, the city of Memphis renamed one of its streets to Adolph “Young Dolph” Thornton Jr. Avenue. Mia Jaye shared in her interview with ABCNEWS, “Now that he’s no longer here, it’s just very tough for me to be strong for them and be strong for myself because he — you know, Adolph was my soulmate.”
