Despite the creators envisioning a more substantial role for the 32-year-old ‘TQG’ singer, she decided to take a step back in her burgeoning acting career. The singer very humbly shared that she wanted to learn before diving into the deep waters.
“I was super nervous. I think they came to me with a different character,” Karol confessed, adding “I was like, ‘Wait, this is my first time doing this and I think I’m gonna accept something less.’ I wanted to start learning first,” she explained with infectious enthusiasm. The singer-turned-actress acknowledged the significance of pacing herself as she delves into this new chapter of her career.
Despite the initial nervous energy, Karol G became a proverbial sponge on set, absorbing every lesson and learning from her fellow castmates. “I was a little sponge absorbing everything on the set and learning a lot from my other castmates, and I’m super happy,” she gleefully shared. In ‘Griselda‘, a six-episode Netflix miniseries, Karol G steps into the shoes of a character named Carla. She revealed a crucial step in getting into character seeing herself transformed in wardrobe and makeup. “For me, to see me as a different person in the mirror… I was like a different person, another girl. It helped me to get into the character easier,” she explained, offering a glimpse into her immersive approach to the role.
‘Griselda‘, featuring an ensemble cast including Alberto Guerra, Christian Tappan, Martín Rodríguez, Juliana Aidén Martinez, and Vanessa Ferlito, is set to debut on Netflix with all six episodes on January 25.
