‘The School for Good and Evil‘ is a fantasy film that takes up the task of transporting the viewer to an alternate reality. Recently, Netflix has been trying to widen its fantasy horizons and adapting fantasy books into movies and series like Leigh Bardugo’s ‘Shadow and Bone‘. This movie is also a film adaptation and is based on Soman Chainani’s bestselling YA hexalogy of the same name.
However, Netflix revealed that there is a major plot twist in the movie that is different from the books. The movie has been in production since 2013, however, it took a halt due to the global pandemic. What Is The Plot Of The Movie?
‘The School for Good and Evil’ is based on Chainani’s first book in the series, which was published in 2013. The movie is set in a fictional location known as the Endless Woods. The plot revolves around the life of two young friends, Sophie and Agatha. The two are best friends despite the fact that they are completely different. Sophie is a sweet little person who dreams of joining the fairy world someday whereas Agatha lives in the village graveyard with her mum and is shunned by society.
It comes to their notice that on a certain day every year, there are strange disappearances that occur in their village. People then suspect the schoolmaster of kidnapping the kids and placing them in separate castles – one for Good and one for Evil. Sophie wishes to go to the school of good and become a princess. And then you can very well guess, the girls are taken away and it changes their whole lives.

‘The School For Good And Evil’ Cast And Release Date
The film stars some A-list actors which makes its release even more anticipatory than before. The lead role of Sophie will be played by Sophia Anne Caruso. Sofia Wylie from ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series‘ will be appearing as Agatha. The role of narrator however falls to the famous and well-known Cate Blanchett.
Charlize Theron will play the headmistress of the mythical School for Evil whereas, Kerry Washington will play the school’s Dean of Good. The School Master will be played by Laurence Fishburne. The movie is set to be released on Netflix on October 21, 2022.
