During opening comments in a civil trial that is one of the final remaining legal claims against Bill Cosby, sex assault accusations will again be brought up.
Judy Huth’s lawyers will lay out the evidence. They hope to use it to prove that Cosby compelled her to perform sexual acts at the Playboy Mansion in 1975 while she was just 16 years old. With Huth’s testimony and other archive evidence, the case will be decided on the basis of its timeliness.
If Cosby’s lawyers are correct, the responsibility of proving the almost 50-year-old case falls solely with the plaintiffs, not the defense. They’ve admitted that Cosby brought Huth to a Playboy Mansion, as evident by a photograph from the visit, but claimed she wasn’t a child at the time.

After being convicted of criminal sexual assault, his conviction was reversed by an appeals court in Pennsylvania 11 months ago, resulting in his release from jail. His employer insisted that he pay the many further accusations that were filed against him for sexual misconduct.
Cosby decided not to testify after the court reached the conclusion that he may exercise his privilege under the Fifth Amendment to prevent self-incrimination. The trial is being held in an unassuming courtroom in Santa Monica, and he has no plans to travel from his residence in Pennsylvania at any point throughout the proceedings. According to Cosby’s representatives, the comedian is unable to travel because of his eye condition called glaucoma.
Cosby’s Lawyers Say There Was No Sexual Abuse
According to Cosby’s attorney, no sexual assault occurred, and his lawyers are expected to stress that the victims bear the burden of proving that over 50 years later. Cosby’s legal team has stated that the comedian will not be able to attend the trial because of glaucoma.
“It is extraordinarily difficult to defend against an allegation from 50 years ago. Nobody could do it, innocent, guilty, or something in between. You work you work you work to create a defense, and then all of a sudden at the last minute, it’s a bait-and-switch,” said Cosby’s lawyer while speaking outside the courtroom.
