Adidas Is Getting Sued By Its Shareholders Over The Kanye West Partnership

The inflated ego took hold of Kanye West in 2022 when he went on a hate spree against African Americans and Jews. He tainted his image as an artist extraordinaire by revolutionizing street fashion. His descent into credibility loss had serious repercussions for not only him but also the brands he had partnered with. Companies like Adidas and Balenciaga severed ties with Ye, which proved financially straining for the fashion giants.

Kanye West’s career ended when he began to make politically charged statements. It trickled down to his fashion statements when he introduced shirts with ‘White Lives Matter’ written over them. After that, he went on to attack the Jews, making anti-Semitic statements against them. This act of defiance affected him financially and professionally. But it also affected Adidas severely, with its shareholders now suing the shoe giant.

The fashion provocateur caused a rumble in the fashion industry after the 2022 Paris Fashion Week. But his political statement had a domino effect on the companies that he partnered with. One of the most affected is Adidas. After his anti-Semitism spree, companies cut ties with Ye.

But when all eyes were on Adidas, it also finally severed ties with the Yeezy owner. The ‘Jesus Walks’ rapper helped Adidas reinvigorate the brand with the Yeezy partnership, extending the contract for ten years until 2026 in 2016.

But four years before the contract expired, Adidas terminated it. It said in its statement that “Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful, and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect, and fairness.” Consequently, Adidas lost $540 million after cutting ties with Kanye.

Now, Adidas’ shareholders have filed a class action lawsuit against the shoe giant at the United States District Court of Oregon. The lawsuit accuses Adidas of not paying heed to the 2018 report, which cited many problems ahead if the company continues with the deal with Ye.

They alluded to the risk that shareholders might have rather than “stating that the company had actually considered ending the partnership as a result of West’s behavior.” Adidas has refuted these “unfounded claims,” and it has assured to take “all necessary measures to vigorously defend” itself.

Kanye West is getting sued by former teachers at the Donda Academy

Kanye West is not getting out of the lawsuit pile anytime soon! He established an educational institution named after his mother, which is called ‘Donda Academy.’ He founded it in 2022, and it is located in Chatsworth. But, even before it was opened, there were many loopholes and suspicious practices, including asking the parents to sign the Non-Declaration Agreement (NDA) before admitting their ward to the school.

Chekarey Byers and Cecilia Hailey filed a lawsuit against the Donda Academy for code of conduct violations. The teachers have noted many unhealthy practices that Kanye has allowed on the school premises, including sushi lunches. They have complained about many bullying instances that have gone unnoticed. There are many obscure rules and regulations, like the fact that all classes should be conducted on the first floor.
