The power couple of Hollywood, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, had a rough divorce. What seemed like a permanent blissful knot eventually broke apart, in the ugliest way possible. Jolie filed for a divorce in 2016 and it was in 2019 that the two could call themselves legally single.
The reason behind the divorce spanning three years was the fight between the two over the custody of their six children. While Jolie wanted sole custody of all her six children, Pitt wasn’t ready to settle for this. The two share three adopted children – Maddox Chivan, Zahara Marley, Pax Thien, and three biological children – Shiloh Nouvel and twins Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline. Getting pregnant was never on Jolie’s list, especially after having three adopted children already. Then how did Brad convince her for having biological children?

Why Did Angelina Jolie Go For Adopted Kids?
The Oscar-winning actress first adopted back in 2002. The seeds for child adoption were planted in her during her trip to Cambodia while filming for her movie, ‘Tomb Raider.‘ There she learned something that shaped her view of the world in a different light. In an interview with Vogue, Jolie explained, “Cambodia was the country that made me aware of refugees. It made me engage in foreign affairs in a way I never had, and join UNHCR. Above all, it made me a mom.” She also added, “In 2001, I was in a school programme in Samlout playing blocks on the floor with a little kid and as clear as day I thought: ‘My son is here.’ A few months later, I met baby Mad at an orphanage. I can’t explain it and am not one to believe in messages or superstition. But it was just real and clear.”
Sarath Mounh, who helped the actress in the adoption process of Maddox, also told Daily Mail, “There are a lot of children in the world that need good care, need a better life. By that time, she wanted to be a mother, but thought it was better to be a mother to some baby who desperately needs good care.” Mounh added how proud he was of Maddox’s growth and said, “Cambodian people, we were proud and happy for him growing up in such a high-class life. Many others in the population don’t get that chance. We’d love him to go back and understand his culture.”

How Did Brad Pitt Convince Angelina Jolie To Have Biological Kids?
With the ‘Fight Club‘ star, Angelina Jolie had a sudden realization of the similar views they shared in their lives. The two were happily expanding their family when they decided to adopt Zahara and Pax, which made Jolie comfortable and grateful. In a 2007 interview with Reader’s Digest, the actress remarked on her big family with Pitt: “I met this amazing person, and we realized we had very similar views on how we wanted to live our lives. It’s happened quickly, with so many children. Yesterday, picking up the kids from school, Brad turned around in the car, and there were three of them. He couldn’t stop laughing. We love them and are having a great time.”
The ‘Salt‘ actress also shared that her pregnancy with her first biological child, Shiloh, was intentional. Jolie never had any intention of getting pregnant before meeting Brad. However, his attitude with her adopted children convinced her otherwise. She saw him being genuinely happy with them. “Before I met Brad, I always said I was happy never to have a child biologically,” Jolie told Reader’s Digest. “He told me he hadn’t given up that thought. Then, a few months after Z came home, I saw Brad with her and Mad, and I realized how much he loved them, that a biological child would not in any way be a threat. So I said, “I want to try.”
