Britney’s father Jamie Spears will have to sit for a deposition and produce all the documents related to the conservatorship case requested by her legal team. The Judge ordered that her father will be deposed in Los Angeles, California within the next 30 days.

According to a report by Variety, Judge Penny (the same judge who had terminated the conservatorship) has ordered Jamie to show documents related to electronic surveillance. This is a move in response to the allegations that he had hired a security firm to put his pop star daughter under surveillance throughout her conservatorship.

The allegations against Jamie range from monitoring her phone and bugging her bedroom to recording her private conversations with others.

This order is in favor of the 40-year-old singer who has been fighting against her father ever since her conservatorship was terminated in November last year.

Spears was involuntarily placed under a conservatorship by a judge in February 2008. Her father acted as the sole conservator for close to 13 years until it was terminated in 2021.

The conservatorship had generated a lot of controversies when it began, with people rallying in support of Britney. It was a temporary psychiatric hold initially meant to last only for days for Britney’s mental health concerns. But it was extended by her father and made permanent.

In 2021, the #FreeBritney movement reached worldwide attention. She then made a public statement and asked for the termination of her conservatorship. The singer accused her father of mistreatment, manipulation, coercion, and invasion of her privacy.

In court, Britney’s lawyer Mathew Rosengart said, “She is free, and Mr. Spears wants to suck her back into the conservatorship for improper, immoral reasons.”

Rosengart, last month, had also accused her father of creating the conservatorship only to reap the benefits by taking Britney’s money, rather than looking out for her best interest.
