Ed Sheeran took over global recognition and appreciation, especially with his songs, ‘Shape Of You’, and ‘Photograph‘. No wonder he is one of the most streamed artists in the world. Among innumerable singles and collaborations, he has released five studio albums so far.
On November 4, the singer left his fans puzzled when he wiped off his entire Instagram grid with just one new picture. Its caption left some hints as to when he’ll be back on the social media app. Here’s what all we know.

Ed Sheeran Will Return To Instagram Next Year
The 31-year-old British singer posted a back picture of himself standing on a rock at a beach, with the view of the sea in the background. He gazed at the endless waves in an all black outfit. The caption read, “Signing off now until 2023. See you in the new year. Much love, Ed x“. His Instagram bio reads, “2023.”
His fans filled the comment section with excitement and best wishes for him. Some of these comments read:
“A well deserved break, can’t wait to see what 2023 has in store for you,” while another commented, “This is so exciting.” Another one couldn’t hold it in their excitement and commented, “Each time the legend takes a break he comes up with a masterpiece lessggoooo something cooking up.”
The break from Instagram and an apparently cleaner slate for his next album came right after he was spotted this week at North Denes beach in Lowestoft, Suffolk, filming a secret project.

Sheeran’s Next Album Is In The Making
On November 2, the singer shared a video on Instagram celebrating one billion streams on his song, ‘Shivers‘. In the video, he said, “So Shivers has just hit a billion streams on Spotify, which makes it my 11th song as an artist and 15th song as a writer… I’m over the moon about it, thank you everyone who’s been streaming that song. I’m gonna celebrate by shooting a music video for my brand new album, which will be out next year.”
The fans are super excited for his next album, since it would also set the pace for his upcoming Mathematics tour in 2023. Even though the upcoming album is untitled, yet it would make sense for it to be titled as ‘ – (Subtract)‘ since his previous albums have been named ‘+ (Plus)’, followed by the 2014 ‘x (Multiply),’ then 2017’s ‘÷ (Divide)’ and last year’s ‘= (Equals)’.
