There has never been a deficiency for movies and series that represent men trapped in video games. From the British anthology series ‘Black Mirror‘ to the anime series ‘Sword Art Online‘, being trapped in virtual reality can be dangerous. What if a VR headset has been created that would kill the user if you die in the game?
And that’s exactly what Oculus founder Palmer Luckey claims to have created. A VR headset that is the first non-fiction example that could kill the user if they lose the game. So it is a play for your life. The most interesting fact is that there are people who are obsessed with these survival games. Finally here’s a pre-model of a VR device that can literally kill you.

Killer Headset: “Piece Of Office Art”
It was on Sunday that Palmer Luckey dropped a blog post where he introduced one of his latest inventions. The 30-year-old got inspiration from the science fiction anime ‘Sword Art Online‘ where the gamers were trapped inside a death game. And Luckey is trying to bring back such a device that could equate real life with virtual life. “The idea of tying your real life to your virtual avatar has always fascinated me – you instantly raise the stakes to the maximum level and force people to fundamentally rethink how they interact with the virtual world and the players inside it,” the entrepreneur penned in his blog. And this idea is deadly.
“I used three of the explosive charge modules I usually use for a different project, tying them to a narrow-band photosensor that can detect when the screen flashes red at a specific frequency, making game-over integration on the part of the developer very easy. When an appropriate game-over screen is displayed, the charges fire, instantly destroying the brain of the user,” the creator wrote about the working of the VR device.

Will People Really Buy This Headset?
Most probably the answer should be yes! In the blog, Luckey writes about the popularity of Oculus Rift when it moved from internet forums to the gaming industry. With the influence of SAO, Japan became the second-largest market. Oculus made a wave among gamers who wanted something more like NerveGear as in ‘SAO‘. “…literally, thousands of people reached out to me asking variations of “Have you seen Sword Art Online? When will you make the NerveGear real?!” Luckey stated the need for these killer technologies.
According to the creator, the VR headset is just a “piece of office art” and “not a perfect system”. Thus there is a need for more innovations like anti-tamper mechanisms and high-intelligence agents. But this prototype is an example of the unexplored areas of game design.
