Remembering Alec, Bon Jovi’s Founding Bassist
New York City-bred Yonkers native The New Jersey music environment that spawned Bon Jovi benefited greatly from the presence of this senior figure. Jon Bon Jovi and The Wild Ones were booked at the Hunka Bunka Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey, where Such worked as a manager before joining Bon Jovi’s band. When Bon Jovi was at its peak in the 1980s, he was a member of the band.
Such was replaced by Hugh McDonald in 1994 when he left the band. In 2018, the year of the band’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, he returned to the group.
“When Jon Bon Jovi called me up and asked me to be in his band many years ago, I soon realized how serious he was and he had a vision that he wanted to bring us to,” said Such at the Hall of Fame induction. “And I am only too happy to have been a part of that vision.”
