Marvel’s ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever‘ was loved by both the audiences and critics. It has also been nominated for the Oscars. However, not everyone is happy with the film.

France’s defense minister Sébastien Lecornu has slammed the film for its portrayal of the French army in Africa. Taking to Twitter, Lecornu wrote: “I strongly condemn this false and misleading representation of our Armed Forces.”

He further added, “I think of and pay tribute to the 58 French soldiers who died defending Mali at its request against Islamist terrorist groups.” Lecornu responded to a series of tweets by French journalist Jean Bexon where he drew parallels between the military uniforms of the film’s villains to the French army in the 1991 Gulf War.

The film shows Wakanda as an independent African nation whose inhabitants are forced to fight back against the colonizers who want its natural resources.
