Kesha Is Celebrating Her Independence With Her Latest Single
Kesha released her first single as an independent artist on July 4 after parting ways with record labels Kemosabe, RCA Records, and Vector Management in June 2023. Though it took her complete one-year gap to finally release her single, ‘Joyride’, the song is worth all the wait.
The release also notably comes after Kesha nearly settled a 10-year-long defamation with producer Lukasz “Dr. Luke” Gottwald last year, after suing him in 2014 for sexual and emotional abuse. The singer had alleged that he drugged and sexually assaulted her in 2005.
Sharing the news of her song’s release, she wrote on X (formally known as Twitter): “I couldn’t have made it through without all of you. now we joyride.”

Don’t, don’t, don’t, don’t even try to gi-give me s—, I’ve earned the right to b-be like this, Oh, you say you love me? (That’s funny), Well, so do I.”
