Elon Musk is one of the most innovative billionaires of modern times. He has a strong interest in advanced technologies, Mars colonization, and artificial intelligence. In 2002, he founded the spacecraft manufacturing company SpaceX. The company has created Falcon 9 and Crew Dragon among other spacecraft.
Recently, the company performed a test flight for Starlink, which is a satellite internet constellation. On Thursday, the test flight took place but the rocket exploded mid-air right after the launch. So let’s find out the reason behind it and how Musk reacted to this news.

Elon Musk’s SpaceX Rocket Exploded After Launch
On Thursday, Elon Musk-owned SpaceX launched a test flight for its reusable Starship rocket. But the excitement quickly turned into shock as the rocket exploded just moments after it was launched.
However, many executives of the company including Musk were seen cheering for this failure. It is mainly because the main mission of the launch was to get the rocket off the ground.
“I’m not saying it will get to orbit, but I am guaranteeing excitement. It won’t be boring,” Musk said last month regarding the launch. “I think it’s got, I don’t know, hopefully about a 50% chance of reaching orbit.”
The rocket exploded at 8:33 a.m. from Starbase, which is a private SpaceX spaceport located in Boca Chica, Texas. There were zero casualties as the test was uncrewed.

What Was The Test For?
Right after the explosion, the company said it was “quite a show” and labeled it as a “rapid unscheduled disassembly.” The test flights are being conducted to check the machine’s capacity to carry heavy payloads.
The craft will also be used by Musk for launching satellites into low-Earth orbit. This will include the Starlink internet service. A proponent of Mars colonization, Musk believes that we might have to leave Earth in the near future to survive.
“History is going to bifurcate along two directions. One path is we stay on Earth forever, and then there will be some eventual extinction event,” he once said. He said that humanity will have to “become a spacefaring civilisation and a multi-planet species.”
