The case related to Harvey Weinstein and his sexual misconduct has been going on for a very long time now. From sexual assault to rape and non-consensual sex, there are a lot of charges against this film producer. And most of these claims have been prevalent for over ten years.
Now, actor, Mel Gibson is also getting involved in the ongoing case. The controversial actor’s name was revealed as a potential witness in Los Angeles Superior Court. Lawyers on either side did have a huge debate on whether the 66-year-old should be allowed to testify in front of the court. But it seems like now he has an opportunity.

What Happened To Harvey Weinstein?
The 70-year-old sex offender is currently serving a 23-year sentence in New York after he was convicted of rape and sexual assault in 2020. He was granted a chance to appeal the conviction in August this year. The trial he is undergoing in Los Angeles is supposed to continue for eight weeks. The Miramax co-founder is accused of four rape cases and seven counts of sexual assaults including five women.
The claim presently on trial is in connection with what happened at a hotel room in Beverly Hills. It was stated that the producer had followed a woman naked after receiving a massage from her and masturbated. On Monday, the jury had begun his trial when he pled not guilty and denied any nonconsensual sexual activity.

How Is Mel Gibson Involved?
It was Judge Lisa B. Lench who concluded that Gibson could testify about what he had learned from one of Weinstein’s accusers who goes by the name Jane doe No.3 about her encounter with Weinstein. However, Weinstein’s lawyers didn’t want Gibson to take a stand, thus they claimed that the information Gibson had was not a “fresh complaint”. But the prosecution defended by stating that the actor understood that Weinstein had sexually assaulted the woman after she has an emotional reaction to the mention of Harvey’s name. Allison Weiner, an additional witness would be called in as an additional witness. This was because Weiner had spoken to the women back in 2015. Whether Gibson could testify or not will also depend on the victim’s forthcoming testimony.
