Shakira Knows How To Leave Her Troubles Behind
Shakira is currently in the middle of a much-publicized and ugly breakup and custody battle with Gérard Pique – the father of her two sons, Milan and Sasha Mebarak. She is also facing eight years in prison as the Spanish authorities have accused her of tax fraud.
So, she apparently wants to leave Barcelona behind to distance herself from the place where troubles have been haunting her. The world-renowned singer first bought a house in Barcelona in 2012. Where will she go now? Well, she has chosen Miami as her new place of residence. Page Six reported that she has close family and friends for support in Miami Beach in addition to a supremely private and luxurious waterfront mansion.
Shakira’s family friend and Douglas Elliman realtor Ana Lourdes Martinez called Miami her “refuge” and told the publication, “Miami is her home. Her parents live here, her brother lives here, her niece and nephew, too. She doesn’t have any family in Spain. It’s a different environment from Barcelona.”

The Shakira-Gérard Pique Drama
Shakira stayed with Pique for about 12 years, before his infidelity ended their relationship. He was reportedly sending explicit messages to other women. The list includes Brazilian model Suzy Cortez, who won the title of Miss Bumbum in 2015. Apparently, the FC Barcelona defender was also involved with a 23-year-old public relations student, Clara Chia Marti.
Announcing their split in a joint statement, the former couple wrote, “We regret to confirm that we are separating. For the well-being of our children, who are our utmost priority, we request respect for (our) privacy.” The two had been together since 2010 after meeting for the first time during that year’s football World Cup.
