Amber Heard is speaking out about the defamation case jury ruling in favor of Johnny Depp. During a Today show interview, the actress discussed how to better understand the jurors’ backgrounds and why she doesn’t “blame” them for siding with her ex-husband.
Depp was awarded $10 million by a Virginia jury in his defamation lawsuit against Heard. He had accused her of fabricating claims that she had been sexually abused by him during and before their brief marriage. The ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star had sued Heard for defaming him in a 2018 Washington Post op-ed.

Amber Heard Says She Doesn’t “Blame” The Jury
‘Aquaman’ star Amber Heard reacted angrily to Savannah Guthrie’s assertion that “The jury looked at the evidence you presented, they listened to your testimony and they did not believe you, they thought you were lying,” and she stated, “How could they make a judgment, how could they not come to that conclusion?” For three weeks, the jury listened to evidence from paid staff and, “randos,” as she called them at the end of the trial.
In response to Guthrie’s question, Heard responded, “I don’t blame them, I actually understand. He’s a beloved character and people feel they know him. He’s a fantastic actor.”
The Actress Feels Social Media Representation Wasn’t Fair
After the decision was read in court in Fairfax County, Virginia, Johnny Depp’s fans cheered, with the actor saying that the “jury gave me my life back” in a statement.
“Setback” for women, said Heard, calling out the verdict. A statement from her attorney, Elaine Bredehoft, specified that she intends to appeal the conviction. Furthermore, Heard addressed the trial’s detractors and the impact of social media on the outcome.
“I don’t care what one thinks about me or what judgments you want to make about what happened in the privacy of my own home, in my marriage, behind closed doors. I don’t presume the average person should know those things. And so, I don’t take it personally,” she said, adding, “But even somebody who is sure I’m deserving of all this hate and vitriol, even if you think that I’m lying, you still couldn’t look me in the eye and tell me that you think on social media there’s been a fair representation. You cannot tell me that you think that this has been fair.”
