M Night Shyamalan is a polarising figure. Whether it is the smartly conceived twist of ‘The Sixth Sense’ or the warped aging logic of his last film, ‘Old,’ we all share ambivalence with the master filmmaker’s signature style. Hopefully, it will end with ‘Knock At The Cabin.’
With his latest thrill fest ‘Knock At The Cabin’ at the door, M Night Shyamalan revealed how he made specific changes to the source material to amplify the horrors of his apocalypse-thriller story. For better or for worse, Night doesn’t compromise with his signature twists. Only time will tell if this one works.

What Was The Season M Night Shyamalan Changed The Book’s Ending For The Movie?
‘Knock At The Cabin‘ is only Night’s second adapted work after ‘Old.’ Night has taken Paul G. Tremblay’s 2018 novel ‘The Cabin at the End of the World’ as a source of inspiration. For the purpose of the movie’s end, he has stuck to his guns and departed a little from the novel.
In a conversation with Digital Spy, M Night Shyamalan explained his reasons for choosing to go in a different creative direction, saying, “From go, when this book came to me to produce, I felt very strongly that the story can’t go the way it was written. It just can’t, it can’t go that way for me“.
He continued, “I have my feelings about that… So when the book came back to me and they said, ‘Would you be interested?’, I said, ‘Oh yeah,’ because I was so taken with the setup and so I said, ‘I am gonna do a different version of this book. I won’t call the movie the same, the fans of the book can just have that and then this is a different artist, interpreting it differently.“
