While fans couldn’t keep calm while watching Gal Gadot and Ben Affleck reprise their role in ‘The Flash’, they also expected James Gun would bring back Henry Cavill. With James Gunn becoming the new boss of the DC Universe, a new vision was adopted, but shockingly the new vision completely abandoned Henry Cavill’s Superman.
Henry Cavill reprised his role as The Man of the Steel in a cameo appearance in Dwayne Johnson’s lead ‘Black Adam’. Fans were hopeful that this will lead to Henry appearing in future DC films. Unfortunately, James Gunn’s announcement of a new Superman left the fans devasted and heartbroken, and now it feels like a vendetta.

The Reason Behind The Exclusion Of Henry Cavill’s Superman
According to the reports by THR, James Gunn completely scrapped the version that featured Gal Gadot, Micheal Keaton, and Henry Cavill and instead opted for the former Batman star George Clooney. This was because Gunn envisioned a completely new DC universe and wanted to avoid giving false hope to fans of the Snyder verse indicating that these characters might not return in the renewed DC Universe.
However, to fans’ surprise Gal Gadot and Ben Affleck got to reprise their role, while Henry Cavill intentionally left out from the final scene. The exact reason for this selective casting has not been disclosed by James Gunn or Peter Sarfan. But with the recent developments for ‘Superman: Legacy’, Gunn clearly wants Henry Cavill’s Superman to distance itself from the new DC Universe.

Has The Cast For Superman: Legacy Been Finalized Yet?
After firing Henry Cavill, the new owner of DC has not yet landed on the actor to play the Man of Steel. Although there were many well-deserving frontrunners, James Gunn is yet to finalize one among them.
The reported candidates for Lois are Phoebe Dynervor, Rachel Brosnahan, and Emma Mackey. However, the role of Superman is reportedly between Tom Brittney, David Corenswet, and Nicholas Hoult.
James Gun also shared his reaction to the ‘Superman: Legacy’ audition, saying he “was blown away by some of these actors”. Drumming up the excitement amongst the fans, Gunn also revealed that some of the actors that screen-tested for Lois and Clark are among “the best he’s ever seen or worked with.” However the studio is planning to make a splash at July’s SDCC 2023 and also the cast of the Superman: Legacy is likely to be revealed at the event.
