Superheroes and supervillains from Marvel Comics have been making their cinematic debut in the last few years. But one character that has been ignored by most of us including his films is ‘Blade.’ Three films based on the character were made from 1998 to 2004 and despite receiving mixed to negative reviews, they were successful at the box office.
A fourth film was reportedly said to be in development for a long time but Marvel Studios purchased the rights for the character in 2012. Now the character is all set to make his MCU debut and the new reboot is scheduled to release in 2024. Because the producers have not revealed much, let’s check what we would get to see.

Release Date, Cast, Plot, And Other Details
The producers of ‘Blade’ have not revealed any storyline for the upcoming reboot until now. But because most of us are familiar with the character from Marvel Comics, the storyline could be the same.
According to the comics, Blade’s mother was attacked by a vampire before he was born and while she went into labor, she gave birth to a half-human half-vampire baby, Eric Brooks. Brooks later changed his name to Blade and starts using his powers to hunt down and finish off the vampires.
Mahershala Ali will appear as Blade and the rest of the characters will be portrayed by Delroy Lindo and Aaron Pierre. There have been rumors that Antony Starr will also play an important role. The film is scheduled to release on September 6, 2024.

Why ‘Blade’ Reboot Got Delayed?
A new film for ‘Blade’ was announced during the San Diego Comic-Con in 2019. Bassam Tariq was confirmed to helm the film in 2021 but he left the project as there were continuous changes in the production schedule. The major challenge for the reboot was the storyline it was aiming to bring in for the audiences.
Although the project was scheduled to release in November 2023, the film was postponed to September 2024. Yann Demange has been hired as the director and according to reports, the original script for the movie angered Mahershala Ali, who is playing the lead role. Industry insider Jeff Sneider revealed in September 2022 that the script included 90 pages and two action sequences.
