Once again, Marvel’s reboot of ‘Blade’ has been put on hold. This time, the WGA strike has halted the production of the Mahershala Ali starrer MCU film. Currently, it’s the only Marvel project that’s packing up its production for the time being. Meanwhile, the rest of the MCU projects continue to film.
Previously, ‘Blade‘ was stuck in development hell when director Bassam Tariq walked out. But with Yann Demange, Marvel found their director to head into production in Atlanta. The fate of this cursed production will depend on what agreement studios and writers’ unions will reach.

‘Blade’ Reboot No Longer Filming
First announced in 2019 at San Diego Comic-Con, the ‘Blade’ reboot’s unlucky streak continues. Be it the change of directors or writers; production has always been plagued with problems. Finally, the project is being helmed by director Yann Demange with a script from Nic Pizzolatto. But they must hold still for an unforeseeable future due to the ongoing WGA strike.
Disney ordered the crew to shut down the pre-production after the WGA strike was announced. A source revealed that even though Pizzolatto delivered the script, “time simply ran out.” The plan is to resume production in Atlanta when a settlement is reached, and the writers are paid what they are owed.

Future Of Other Marvel Projects
Even with the strike, Marvel has three movies and two television series in production. ‘Captain America: New World Order‘ with Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Captain America is currently filming in Atlanta. ‘WandaVision’ spin-off ‘Agatha: Coven of Chaos’ is now shooting in Atlanta.
Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s ‘Deadpool 3′ is expected to start filming later this month in London. The Thunderbolts will begin production in Atlanta in June. Still looking for its cast, the ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot is looking to get its production started on January 2024 in London. But with the WGA strike, all these schedules can be pushed to uncertain dates.
